In a turn of events that I don’t believe any of us expected, the former disgraced governor of New York publicly criticized the FBI’s search of President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence today.
DOJ must immediately explain the reason for its raid & it must be more than a search for inconsequential archives or it will be viewed as a political tactic and undermine any future credible investigation & legitimacy of January 6 investigations.

I’m honestly in shock here.
For once I actually agree with Cuomo. If this turns out to be a search for ‘inconsequential archives’ as he put it, there will be hell to pay.
I know he’s more worried about the January 6th investigation but he’s not wrong. It seems everything the FBI and DOJ does these days undermines their other investigations. They can no longer be trusted with the authority they have.
In another twist, another Democrat came out against the raid…
I’m no Trump fan. I want him as far away from the White House as possible. But a fundamental part of his appeal has been that it’s him against a corrupt government establishment. This raid strengthens that case for millions of Americans who will see this as unjust persecution.

It seems like this was authorized by a local judge and a particular FBI office without buy-in or notification of higher levels of government. But literally no one will believe that or make a distinction. It’s probably bureaucratic but it seems political.

This raid is purely political and hoping to get him on something. When are they going to stop using the taxpayers money. They tried twice and lost, so now they are going for a third. I would like to think so but if the past is any template the republicans will do nothing. They will hold hearings, and the democrats will play stupid and not remember anything as usual while the republicans will play by the rules.
