This CNN segment just goes beyond any shred of self-awareness. It’s shared in two clips here, and I thank Tom Elliott for trimming it because if it were any longer I don’t know I could survive it.
This is just incredible. They are trying to “solve” the problem of Joe Rogan listeners not knowing what’s good for them and not listening to the ENLIGHTENED people like themselves – they being the Fat Dumb and Bald Guy, his marionette assistant, and some 30-something fiction writer.
Y’all have to watch it to really get the full impact, I can’t do it justice with quotes.
Writer @katrosenfield: “People are fundamentally angry about not being able to stop [Joe Rogan’s] audience from wanting news that is bad for them, you know … We are all haunted by the spectre of this guy who is listening to Joe Rogan and internalizing this bad information” pic.twitter.com/4TALEhbJgj

Rosenfield: “Here is people who, they like something that we — you know, who consider ourselves more enlightened — don’t think is good for them, we think that they’re internalizing this misinformation and using it to make bad decisions …” pic.twitter.com/aFkoAWHFje

“Here’s people who, you know, they like something that we, you know, who consider ourselves more enlightened, don’t think is good for them. You know, we think that they’re internalizing this misinformation, that they’re using it to make bad decisions. Um, but, if you took away Joe Rogan by de-platforming him, just as if you took away Doritos — would they seek out better information?”
The Doritos thing comes from her tweet that liberals are dragging.
the Spotify/Rogan thing is such a case displaced aggression— it’s like if a bunch of nutritionists got mad at Shop Rite for stocking Doritos because it’s “platforming junk food”
you’re not really mad at Shop Rite, you’re mad that you can’t make people not like junk

See, this lady thinks she’s offering a defense of Rogan. This is CNN’s idea of “debate.” They all agree that everyone who listens to Joe Rogan is a stupid jerk. It’s just that Rosenfeld thinks we’re all too dumb to do any better and that cancelling him could backfire, as opposed to good old Oliver Darcy who just wants to straight up issue commands and edicts.
THAT’S THEIR DEBATE. WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO FORCE DUMMIES TO OBEY, NOT WHETHER OR NOT TO.
The fact that the rubes SHOULD listen to the enlightened isn’t even in dispute here.
Unbelievable.
