Haitian illegals who were being driven to San Antonio reportedly revolted and took over the transport bus before escaping in to the United States.
According to two law enforcement authorities, Haitian migrants being transferred away from the border aboard a federally contracted private bus revolted during the voyage and took control of the commercial vehicle before fleeing.
During the two-and-a-half-hour trek from the international bridge in Del Rio, a large white bus destined for San Antonio, Texas, was overtaken Monday afternoon. Two federal law enforcement agents informed the Washington Examiner that the migrants on board were picked up from a makeshift migrant camp where thousands are waiting to be taken into custody.
Law enforcement hunted for the escapees and recaptured them, according to the two people who confirmed the occurrence.
On Tuesday, a senior federal law enforcement officer confirmed to the Washington Examiner that “They did break out of the bus, and they did escape,”
It’s unclear whether the transit was overseen by Customs and Border Protection or Immigration and Customs Enforcement. CBP is in charge of apprehending, transporting, and processing illegal immigrants, while ICE is in charge of custody and deportation from the nation for longer periods of time. Requests for comment were not returned by any agency.
“several noncitizens attempted to flee the contracted bus.” ICE told a local news outlet.
I don’t know why they were being transported to San Antonio, other than to be deported back to Haiti. Which is likely why they tried to escape.
But hey, I thought Psaki said that none of them intended to stay very long anyway. The US is just making their trip a little shorter, so why revolt?
