According to a new report from the Associated Press, a new subpoena was issued from the U.S. attorney’s office in Delaware against former Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden over records relating to Burisma Holdings and Chinese companies.
This news comes just days after we discovered that Joe Biden’s brother Jim Biden was also under federal investigation for a now-bankrupt healthcare firm.

The breadth of the subpoena, issued Tuesday, underscores the wide-angle lens prosecutors are taking as they examine the younger Biden’s finances and international business ventures.
Hunter Biden’s ties to Burisma in particular have long dogged the policy work and political aspirations of his father, Joe Biden, now the president-elect of the United States. It’s unclear whether Hunter Biden’s work at the Ukrainian company is a central part of the federal investigation or whether prosecutors are simply seeking information about all his sources of income in recent years.
The person was not authorized to discuss an ongoing investigation publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
A lawyer for the younger Biden, George Mesires, did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment for this story and a spokesman for the Biden transition team declined to comment.

In addition to the Burisma-related request, the subpoena issued last week also seeks information on Hunter Biden’s Chinese business dealings and other financial transactions.
The probe was launched in 2018, the year before his father announced his candidacy for president. At one point in the investigation, federal prosecutors were also examining potential money laundering offenses, two people familiar with the matter told the AP.
Hunter Biden said he only learned of the investigation on Tuesday.
The younger Biden joined the board of Burisma in 2014, around the time his father, then vice president, was helping conduct the Obama administration’s foreign policy with Ukraine. President Donald Trump and his allies have long argued, without evidence, that Hunter Biden’s work in Ukraine influenced the Obama administration’s policies toward the Eastern European nation.
The situation surrounding Hunter Biden is getting so serious that some congress members are sounding the alarm.
Last week Republican Rep. Ken Buck sent a letter to Attorney General William Barr, urging the Department of Justice to appoint a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden.
“I write to request that the Department of Justice (DOJ) appoint a Special Counsel to investigate Mr. Hunter Biden’s conduct and the contents of his laptop that is currently in the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) possession,” Buck said in the letter to Barr. “This investigation is critical to defending the integrity of our republic and ensuring a potential Biden Administration will not be the subject of undue foreign interference. Americans have the right to know whether Mr. Biden’s reported ties to foreign governments will make him the subject of blackmail attempts or other nefarious efforts to undermine U.S. national security or otherwise improperly influence American foreign policy.”
The letter comes after bombshell reports were released detailing Hunter Biden’s corrupt connections to foreign elites.
“As you know, the Attorney General is granted the statutory authority to appoint a Special Counsel under 28 U.S.C. § 515 and 28 CFR § 600 to investigate and prosecute any matter that would present a conflict of interest for the Department or other extraordinary circumstances,” Buck added. “Similar to when the DOJ appointed Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III, it is critical that this investigation continue free from political interference, no matter who is in the White House. We must guarantee the integrity of our government and the security of our republic.”
“As such, I urge the DOJ to appoint a Special Counsel to investigate Hunter Biden’s actions and the potentially incriminating contents of his laptop to ensure this important investigation will be completed,” Buck went on to say. “Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this request.”

Democrats, the media, and the social media companies rushed to downplay the story about Hunter Biden and the laptop. The media and some Democrats falsely claimed that the story was part of a Russian disinformation campaign. However, top U.S. officials debunked those claims.
Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe told Fox News at the time that Hunter Biden’s laptop was “not part of some Russian disinformation campaign.” The FBI later confirmed to Fox News that the laptop was not part of a Russian disinformation campaign.
If Barr appoints a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden, it will be the second special counsel that he has appointed over the past two months.
Last week, news broke that Barr appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham to be special counsel in the criminal investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia probe.
“Appointing Durham gives him extra protection to continue the investigation as a transition in presidential administrations is likely to take place in a little under two months,” The Daily Wire reported. “Barr’s move will make it harder for the incoming Biden administration to fire Durham and end the probe.”
