AG Bill Barr just obliterated Wolf Blitzer During an interview on CNN’s and it’s glorious to watch.
Here’s a clip of him mopping up the floor with Blitzer who was absurdly trying to claim Trump wanted people to illegally vote twice:
The quote which Blitzer is reading from Trump is contained within this quote from Trump today:
600,000 people could vote by absentee in this state. Are you confident in that system?“They will vote and then they are going to have to check their vote by going to the poll and voting that way because if it tabulates then they won’t be able to do that. So let them send it in, and let them go vote. And if the system is as good as they say it is, then they obviously won’t be able to vote (at the poll). If it isn’t tabulated, they will be able to vote. So that’s the way it is, and that’s what they should do.
“I don’t like the idea of these unsolicited votes. I never did. It leads to a lot of problems. They’ve got 11 problems already on very small contests. I’m not happy about it. At the same time, we’re in court with a lot of it. We’re going to see if it can be stopped.
“But send you ballots, send them in strong whether it’s solicited or unsolicited. The absentees are fine. But go to vote and if they haven’t counted it, you can vote. That’s the way I view it.”
Blitzer, who gets a case of the Bidens when he starts to read Trump’s statement, actually says that Trump is trying to encourage people to vote twice or something. But Barr says it sounds like Trump is only making the point that “monitoring this system is not good. And if it was so good, if you tried to vote a second time you would be caught.”
Blitzer argues with Barr over the quote and eventually Barr says “well if you know what it says, why are you asking me what he’s saying?”
Barr then lowers the boom on Blitzer, saying
“Wolf, this is sort of cheap talk to get around the fundamental problem which is the bipartisan commission chaired by Jimmy Carter and James Baker said back in 2009 that that mail-in voting is fraught with the risk of fraud and coercion.”
Blitzer tried to interrupt but Barr demanded to be heard, saying “let me talk!”
Barr continued with more ‘boom’:
“and since that time there have been in the newspapers, in networks, [in] academic studies saying it is open to fraud and coercion. The only time the narrative changed is after this administration came in. But elections that have been held with mail have found substantial fraud and coercion.”
Barr proceeds then to explain how they just indicted someone for taking over 1700 ballots made out to other people and filling them out for who he wanted to win. “That kind of thing happens with mail-in ballots and everyone knows it!”
That’s where the clip ends, but I love the straight shooting of Barr in this clip. Love it!
But it gets even better. Curtis cut the clip too short! I’ve cued it up to where it continues at the 1 minute mark (I just found it or I would have added this at the top):
Blitzer tries to argue that we’ve only seen that with certain individuals but there hasn’t been this widespread voter fraud associated with mail-in ballots. But Barr unleashes on him even more:
“Well we haven’t had the kind of widespread use of mail-in ballots that’s being proposed! We’ve had absentee ballots from people who request them from a specific address. Now what we’re talking about is mailing them to everyone on the voter list when everyone knows those voter lists are inaccurate! People who should get them don’t get them…and people who get them are not the right people – they are people who replace the previous occupant and they can make them out. Sometimes multiple ballots come to the same address with several generations of occupants. You think that’s a way to run a vote?!”
Blitzer again tries to make excuses for why mail-in voting is ok, but Barr cuts him off saying:
“Wolf this is playing with fire! We’re a very closely divided country here. And people have to have confidence in the results of the election and the legitimacy of the government. And people trying to change the rules to this methodology, which as a matter of logic is very open to fraud and coercion, is reckless and dangerous! And people are playing with fire!”
I don’t smoke but I need a cigarette after that beat down Barr just gave Wolfy. That was absolutely marvelous and 100% correct. Barr 2024!
