On Thursday before the third Democratic presidential debate in Houston, Texas, the Trump campaign is flying a banner warning that socialism will destroy Houston’s economy. The ad is being flown from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. local time. The debate begins at 7 p.m. Central.

“SOCIALISM WILL KILL HOUSTON’S ECONOMY! VOTE TRUMP 2020,” the banner reads.

Brad Parscale, Trump’s 2020 campaign manager, shared a video of the banner on Twitter.

The campaign also took out two full-page print ads in Houston and San Antonio targeting Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro, and former Vice President Joe Biden. The ads warn that Democrats will kill jobs and specifically attacked Castro for “obstructing the president.”

“Every single Democrat candidate has job killing, economy crushing policies that won’t work for America. Team Trump is here to remind them and let everyone in Houston know what a complete disaster Democrats are for America,” Erin Perrine, deputy communications director, told ABC News in a statement on Wednesday.

While some of the 2020 Democrats who will take the stage Thursday night have not embraced socialism by name, many have followed the lead of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a self-described democratic socialist, in advocating far-left big government policies.

Trump and Vice President Mike Pence have repeatedly declared that America will never be a socialist country. Sadly, these Democrats seem bent on proving them wrong.

In addition to Biden, Sanders, Warren, and Castro, six others have qualified for the debate: Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.); Pete Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend, Ind.; Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.); Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.); former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas); and entrepreneur Andrew Yang.

Trump is right to warn against socialism. Americans often take our freedom and prosperity for granted, forgetting that most humans throughout history have not enjoyed political representation or basic things like running water, air conditioning, refrigerators and microwaves, and food from across the world. Free markets and limited government jumpstarted a new way of living, and big government threatens to snuff out the engine of prosperity. Socialism would kill Houston’s economy, and much more besides.
