Jussie Smollett was in it for the money. He was “dissatisfied with his salary” and thought a fake hate crime would be a good way to up his income. That’s the word from Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson, who blasted Smollett for leading cops on a wild goose chase.
According to CPD’s top cop, Smollett was willing to drag “Chicago’s reputation through the mud” and took “advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career.”
As I argued earlier, the most disturbing piece of this story is that Smollett was apparently willing to testify against innocent people in order to keep the hoax alive. His accusation also impugned a wide swath of Trump supporters – not just in Chicago, but all over the country.
