Many celebrities have used their social platforms to express their political and personal disdain for President Donald Trump. Most recently, Meryl Streep used her Golden Globes acceptance speech to divulge her feelings about Trump, which were mainly negative.
Actress Nicole Kidman is taking a different approach to Trump’s presidency, however, and feels as though the country should rally behind him.
“I just say he’s now elected,” Kidman said during an interview with BBC News. “We as a country need to support whoever [is] the president because that’s what the country’s based on. And however that happened, he’s there and let’s go.”
Kidman isn’t one to use her platform to boast about politics, but she has made it clear she cares more about the issues and less about the people in power.
“I’m always reticent to start commenting politically,” Kidman said. “I’ve never done it in terms of America or Australia. I’m issue-based. For me, I’m very committed to women’s issues.”
The dual-citizen is also a goodwill ambassador for United Nations Women and does a lot of fundraising and traveling for them.
“I also do an enormous amount of fundraising for breast and ovarian cancer because that’s something that’s affected my family deeply,” she revealed. “So they’re my issues that I’m very attached to.”
The Academy Award-winning actress has a simple message, and that’s to stop dwelling on things you cannot change!
