Ivana Trump Says She Was ‘Mastermind’ Behind Ex-Husband, Donald Trump’s Success

Ivana Trump, the first of the president’s three wives, says in a new interview that she encouraged her former hubby to take to Twitter to get his message out — a decision he has said fueled his improbable victory.

The mother of the president’s three adult children told “CBS Sunday Morning” in an interview to be aired this weekend that Trump asked her for her advice on the subject.

“I said, ‘I think you should tweet. It’s a new way, a new technology. And if you want to get your words across rightly, without telling the New York Times, which is going to twist every single word of yours, this is how you get your message out,’” Trump told the network’s Jim Axelrod.

Asked about critics who say that Trump would be better off not venting his spleen at the media, Democrats and even his own staff and party bigs on Twitter, she said they’ve got it all wrong.

“Well, it’s a tweeting president. This is his new way, how to put the message across. And he’s right,” she said.

He’s fired off more than 36,000 tweets wince he signed up in March 2009.

And he has said he probably wouldn’t have won the presidency without sharing his thoughts in his unpredictable tweets.

“Without the tweets, I wouldn’t be here. I don’t have to go to the fake news,” he told the Financial Times in an interview in April.

A year earlier, he said at a rally in Rhode Island that he’d break his Twitter habit once elected.

“Don’t worry, I’ll give it up after I’m president. We won’t tweet anymore. I don’t know. Not presidential,” he said then.

‘But if anything, Trump has ramped up his tweetstorms, firing off dozens of often eye-popping if not head-scratching posts every week.

The former Mrs. Trump, 68, said she talks to the president every week — and that he offered her the ambassadorship to her native Czech Republic

“I was just offered to be the American ambassador to Czech Republic – and Donald told me. He said, ‘Ivana, if you want it, I give it to you,’” she said.

“But I like my freedom. I like to do what I want to do, go wherever I want to go with whomever I want to go. And I can afford my lifestyle. Okay, why would I go and say bye-bye to Miami in the winter, bye-bye to Saint-Tropez in the summer, and bye-by to spring and fall in New York? I have a perfect life.”

Trump also talks about her life before and after she and the president divorced, what he’s like as a father; her thoughts about his second wife, Marla Maples, and his third, First Lady Melania Trump; and other topics she addresses in her new book, “Raising Trump,” an advice book with tips for parents, the network said.
