Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia Republican, declared on Thursday that she would submit articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden, citing his claimed inability to enforce immigration laws and failing to protect the southern border.
“It is with the highest amount of solemnity that I announce my intention to introduce articles of impeachment today on the head of this America-at-last Executive Branch that has been working since January 20th, 2021, to systematically destroy this country: the President of the United States, Joseph Robinette Biden,” she remarked at a press briefing on Thursday.
Her remarks come in the wake of the termination of the Title 42 order, which had authorized U.S. border officers to expeditiously remove migrants who originated from countries that were known to be a source of a communicable disease. In the month of April alone, prior to the order’s expiration, United States Customs and Border Protection officers at the southern border encountered around 211,000 illegal entrants. During the week immediately up to the expiration of Title 42 in May, law enforcement officials reported seeing record numbers, with daily interactions allegedly surpassing 10,000.
Greene continued by listing a long list of alleged transgressions against law enforcement officials that she claimed warranted impeachment. The District of Columbia’s U.S. Attorney, Matthew Michael Graves, has permitted “67 percent of arrests to go unprosecuted,” many of which involve violent felonies. “The FBI has become Joe Biden’s personal police force,” according to FBI Director Christopher Wray. The “Department of Injustice” is run by Attorney General Merrick Garland, who also established a “two-tiered justice system” to look into “anyone from parents who investigate their local school boards to former president Donald J. Trump.” Greene alleged that Alejandro Mayorkas, secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, had facilitated the “complete invasion of our country by deliberately flooding our nation with drugs, terrorists, and illegal aliens.”
As she explained her justification for a move to impeach President Biden, Greene held back a lot of ammunition till the end:
“Joe Biden has deliberately compromised our national security by refusing to enforce immigration laws and secure our border, allowed approximately six million illegals from over 170 countries to invade our country, deprive border patrol of the necessary resources and policies sufficient to protect our country. And his administration has willfully refused to maintain operational control as required by the law,” Green said.
The Georgia congresswoman has been a constant source of frustration for the administration of Vice President Joe Biden. She took a white balloon to the floor of the House of Representatives during the president’s statement on the state of the union in what appeared to be a reference to a Chinese spy balloon that had invaded American skies at the time. She has stated that she has a “staggering” quantity of proof that Hunter Biden involved in schemes to enrich foreign firms, and she has claimed that she possesses this information. Because of her prominent position within the conservative base, many people have begun to speculate that President Trump would choose to choose her as his running partner for the 2024 election.
Greene’s declaration has been completely disregarded by the White House.
