It’s DONE: Roe V. Wade Is No More… Are You Ready For The Left’s Civil War?

Well, the Supreme Court actually did it; in a 5-4 decision that was just released, the conservative majority on the Supreme Court ruled that there is no fundamental right to abortion.

Alito, writing the opinion for the court, wrote that:

Abortion presents a profound moral question. The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return the authority to the people and their elected representatives.

The above quotation came at the end of the opinion, with Alito summarizing the effect of it. Earlier in the opinion, toward the beginning, is perhaps the best part. In it he firmly reject the idea that abortion is a right and that Roe was correctly decided, saying:

We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision, including the one on which the defenders of Roe and Casey now chiefly rely—the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. That provision has been held to guarantee some rights that are not mentioned in the Constitution, but any such right must be “deeply rooted in this Nation’s history and tradition” and “implicit in the concept of ordered liberty.” Washington v. Glucksberg, 521 U. S. 702, 721 (1997) (internal quotation marks omitted).

The right to abortion does not fall within this category. Until the latter part of the 20th century, such a right was entirely unknown in American law. Indeed, when the Fourteenth Amendment was adopted, three quarters of the States made abortion a crime at all stages of pregnancy. The abortion right is also critically different from any other right that this Court has held to fall within the Fourteenth Amendment’s protection of “liberty.” Roe’s defenders characterize the abortion right as similar to the rights recognized in past decisions involving matters such as intimate sexual relations, contraception, and marriage, but abortion is fundamentally different, as both Roe and Casey acknowledged, because it destroys what those decisions called “fetal life” and what the law now before us describes as an “unborn human being.”

Breitbart, hinting at what might be the leftist response, noted that:

An early draft of Alito’s opinion leaked in May, the first such leak of a full opinion in the 233-year history of the Supreme Court, leading the left to violent protests, including destroying a pro-life center in Wisconsin, vandalizing churches, and threatening protests at the home of conservatives justices in violation of federal law.

These threats have culminated in what was almost an assassination attempt of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, which went seemingly unnoticed by President Joe Biden – who did not speak out to condemn it – and has led to rapid action on a new federal law to protect the justices. The court majority evidently stood firm against the threats and public pressure, overruling Roe and the later revision of Roe in 1992, Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

That’s what happened with the leak. Now it really happened, so the left is likely about to go insane.

About time. I’m not going to stop you from having an abortion, if you want one that badly. BUT! I never wanted for ME to pay for YOUR abortion through the forceful seizure of MY tax dollars. And if your state doesn’t allow abortions, nothing stopping you from crossing state lines to get one somewhere else. Just make sure that you can pay for it yourself.

Meanwhile, to all you conservatives out there, arm up and carry on.

I’m not opposed to [early] abortion. I am opposed to evil, that is to say: Democrats. Their perfidy gets more outrageous with each passing day. American have only 3 options: fight, leave, or submit. I saw this all coming after 9/11 and have 2nd passports for my entire family plus hard assets offshore. When I first made these plans, there were civilized alternative places to escape to. Now more and more these places are giving into the craziness.

Civil War? No way. Who are the combatants?? Where would battles be fought? With what weapons? What would constitute victory.

I see this as the beginning of the end of woke-ness. Normal people are tired of this. America’s normal goodwill and spirit of fairness is wearing thin.
