Americans Are HORRIFIED After Biden Announces Orwellian New ‘Disinformation Governance Board’ — ‘Ministry Of Truth’ Becomes #1 Trend On Twitter

Elon Musk bought Twitter in what’s widely been seen as a victory for free speech. So, what did Team Biden do in response? It went full Orwell and created a Ministry of Truth, err “Disinformation Governance Board” to combat speech it sees as problematic.

As the Daily Mail reports:

President Biden has set up a ‘disinformation’ board headed-up by a woke so-called expert who’s against free speech and tried to pour cold water on the Hunter laptop scandal. 

[…]He [Mayorkas] explained that the board would work to tackle disinformation ahead of the November midterms, particularly in Hispanic communities. 

But Mayorkas did say that the new board would come under the Biden-era Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships (CP3), meaning it would have no powers to crack down on disinformation and will instead try to combat it by throwing money at what it sees as problems. 

Regardless of how “toothless” it is, Americans are horrified by the board, seeing it as more than a bit Orwellian. Hence why “Ministry of Truth” trended on Twitter, as Posbiec announced on Twitter:

Yet worse, somehow, is who Team Biden chose to run the Ministry of Truth. That would be “Nina Jankowicz”, who Posobiece reports “once claimed militarized Trump supporters would show up to the polls with weapons to intimidate voters”

She was also one of the ones who was telling people that the Hunter Biden laptop wasn’t real, siding with the Deep State over journalism. Oh and she’s in a weird band.

So that’s who’s heading the new DHS “disinformation” agency. She, for her part, claimed to be all about defending free speech in a tweet on the topic, saying:

However, many doubt that, as she recently told NPR “Last week I told @NPRMichel: I shudder to think about if free speech absolutists were taking over more platforms, what that would look like for the marginalized communities… which are already shouldering… disproportionate amounts of this abuse.”

Team Biden also wrung its hands about the “future of the internet” yesterday, accusing Russia of promoting disinformation and shutting down news sources:

Russia has aggressively promoted disinformation at home and abroad, censored Internet news sources, blocked or shut down legitimate sites, and gone so far as to physically attack the Internet infrastructure in Ukraine.

Russia, however, is hardly alone but just one of the leaders in a dangerous new model of Internet policy along with the People’s Republic of China and some of the other most censorial states in the world.

In response to these alarming trends, the United States is launching the Declaration for the Future of the Internet — otherwise known as the “DFI” — jointly with more than 50 partners, 50 other states from around the world, including — on the morning of April 28th, 2022. And U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan will be hosting the launch with endorsing partners.

I suppose we’ll just forget that Big Tech shut down and censored “Internet news sources” like the New York Post’s Hunter Biden story in the run up to the 2020 election and shut down Parler when it refused to bend the knee, and particularly forget that those 50 former spooks cited by Nina gave Big Tech cover for shutting down the NYP story…

None of this should come as a surprise, as Jen had announced recently that the administration would be taking steps to fight misinformation, saying:

I would say that our concerns are not new.  We’ve long talked about and the President has long talked about his concerns about the power of social media platforms, including Twitter and others, to spread misinformation, disinformation; the need for these platforms to be held accountable. 

While I know you tried again — I appreciate that — I still don’t have a specific comment on this specific transaction.  And at this point, we don’t have any sense of what the policies will look like. 

She later added to that, saying:

Well, I think we engage regularly with all social media platforms about steps that can be taken that has continued, and I’m sure it will continue.  But there are also reforms that we think Congress could take and we would support taking, including reforming Section 230, enacting antitrust reforms, requiring more transparency.  And the President is encouraged by the bipartisan support for — or engagement in those efforts.
