Senator Rand Paul ripped Dr. Anthony Fauci in a heated argument this morning regarding NIH-funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab.
Dr. Fauci categorically disputes that the NIH supported gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, noting that a paper provided by Rand Paul in the hearing was assessed not to be gain-of-function by specialists.
But Paul disputed this, claiming that it satisfies the criteria of gain-of-function. Fauci, on the other hand, asserts that it does not, and cries that Paul has no idea what he’s talking about.
Paul, however, fires back, telling Fauci that he’s tinkering with language because he doesn’t want to be held accountable for supporting gain-of-function research in the lab that started the epidemic. Fauci again calls Paul a liar, and things get hot.
When Fauci points his huge old finger at Paul and calls him a liar, Paul just takes a gulp from his water bottle, I had to giggle. This is a classic moment.
