Hours after the news broke Monday that former Secretary of State John Kerry reportedly revealed sensitive information about Israeli covert operations to Iran’s foreign minister, two Republican members of Congress called for Kerry to resign. Kerry is currently sitting on President Biden’s National Security Council as a presidential convoy for the climate.
In leaked audio, Iran’s foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif reportedly claims that the former secretary knew about 200+ Israeli operations in Syria.
First, Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK) called for Kerry’s resignation on the Senate floor Monday.
“It’s become clear…that our adversaries, whether Beijing or Iran, like it when John Kerry is in charge of foreign policy and national security. Why? Because they know how to use him to their advantage,” Sullivan said.
Next, Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) agreed with Sullivan, tweeting that Kerry should resign.
The Biden administration has yet to respond.
