Self-proclaimed democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), took to Twitter Thursday afternoon to urge the U.S. government to start paying people not to work.
Several respondents pointed out the danger of writing government checks that depend on the capital produced in private enterprise to take the place of that capital. Eventually, economists have noted, the government would be out of money and inflation and debt would skyrocket.
When the congresswoman began getting bombarded with criticism for the suggestion, she blamed it on hypocritical Republicans.

Now that is something we can totally get behind!
Meanwhile, negotiations between Republicans and Democrats for second coronavirus relief bill are still in deadlock.
