Has Cancel Culture Revoked The First Amendment?

We currently live in a country where you can blame the President for 200,000 COVID 19 deaths (really). However, you cannot blame the government that developed and released COVID 19, without being labeled a racist, a white supremacist, and something far less than human.

This truth was underscored boldly by recent events that occurred during riots in Louisville, where a senior police official was relieved from duty for “belittling Black Lives Matter protestors”. Yes, Major Bridget Hallahan “disparaged” protestors by calling them punks.

Her messages (that were gleefully released by the MSM) said other mean things about the protestors, mean things that although harsh, represented the thoughts of a large segment of society that is quite simply over the summer of 2020

But of course most the media, egged on no doubt by the cancel culture mob (which some members of the media are honorary members of), neglected to include the portions of Hallahan’s messages that urged police not to respond in kind to the violence and vitriol that they were faced with daily

‘I know it is hard to keep our thoughts and opinions to ourselves sometimes, especially when we, as a whole or as an individual, become the target of people in the public who criticize what we do without even knowing the facts’

The former police Major went on to say

‘These ANTIFA and BLM people, especially the ones who just jumped on the bandwagon ‘yesterday’ because they became ‘woke’ (insert eye roll here), do not deserve a second glance or thought from us. Our little pinky toenails have more character, morals, and ethics, than these punks have in their entire body.

‘Do not stop to their level. Do not respond to them. If we do, we only validate what they did. Don’t make them important, because they are not. They will be the ones washing our cars, cashing us out at the Walmart, or living in their parents’ basement playing COD for their entire life.’

During the riots of 2020 police officers have been attacked with bricks, frozen water bottles, rocks, fireworks and a sundry list of other deadly projectiles. These attacks have been reported in many jurisdiction, for example, Hannity while reporting on the seemingly endless riots in the far west stated that

Portland was rocked by another night of violence Sunday as hundreds of protesters attacked police, set fire to a local precinct, and attempted to blind officers using “lasers” during violent demonstrations.

Most logical individuals would agree that being set on fire, hit with a brick, or blinded by high powered lasers is somewhat worse than being called hurtful names. Still, the time we live in is such that the attacks on police receive little if any type of punishment, whereas calling rioters names (and well deserved names at that) results in the loss of your livelihood.

Yes Hallahan was relieved of duty, seemingly due to the simple fact that the City of Louisville as represented by Mayor Fischer, Councilman Coan and Councilman Hollander, have failed to pay attention to what is happening to cities across the country who have taken a knee in a misguided attempt to appease the mob. The city of Louisville caved, and will no doubt receive the same benevolent treatment from rioters that others that have surrendered to the mob have received – which is to say, absolutely none
