Last night armed citizens showed up on the scene in Kenosha to prevent the looting and burning that have been happening all week after the police shooting of Jacob Blake. At one point a man with a rifle is being chased by rioters and he falls down. Someone tries to jump on top of him and we hear shots ring out. Below are the two videos that caught the confrontation:
You can definitely hear other shooters. In fact one of the rioters who was badly shot in the arm was still holding his handgun:
In fact one person managed to grab the still that shows this dude had pulled his gun out when he went to attack the man with the rifle:
And with all of this madness, there was another shooting as well. The Daily Caller says their reporter was on the scene and actually took off his shirt to help save the guy:
Here’s a little more from Fox News on what happened:
Officers responded at about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday to reports of shots fired and multiple gunshot victims near 63rd Street and Sheridan Road. Two people were killed, and a third was rushed to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries, the Kenosha Police Department said in a statement.
Investigators were looking into whether the shooting unfolded as a result of a conflict that broke out between demonstrators and “self-styled militias guarding a gas station,” Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth told the New York Times.
Videos on social media showed a chaotic scene after nightfall, as crowds seemed to chase a man carrying a rifle down the street, before eventually knocking him to the ground and trying to grab his weapon, Reuters reported. A bloodied man was seen with what appeared to be a serious arm wound. Another video showed a man with a head injury as crowds gathered around him to treat him.
Now that rioters have been shot, you can expect the Governor to take this more seriously and call in more National Guard. In fact it was reported last night that local law enforcement said they needed 750 National Guard to keep the peace:
