Liberal Politicians Want You Helpless, Hopeless And Utterly Dependent

If you want to see a microcosm of the hopes and dreams that liberals have for all Americans, then look no further than San Francisco, that city on the bay that just happens to be smack dab in the middle of Princess Pelosi’s district.

An atypical liberal hand out program that was (supposedly) designed to help the ever-growing homeless population in California has rapidly resulted in the kind of drug-riddled, alcohol-fueled, violence-plagued behavior that one usually associates with liberal *ahem* “leadership.”

California’s effort to address their escalating homeless problem was headed up by one of 2020’s early leaders for the highly coveted “Clueless Liberal Politician of the Year” award, Gavin Newsom.

The problem that faced Governor Clueless….err Newsom was admittedly a difficult one, the homeless issue has been complicated (like everything else) by COVID 19, additionally, the problem has been made far worse by the fact that the plethora of brilliant liberal politicians that colonize ummm…. populate California haven’t done a damned thing to address the homeless predicament.

Worried that Newsom might “Cuomo up” California by allowing the Coronavirus to decimate the gigantic homeless encampments that have proliferated throughout the once great state, liberal brains such as Waters, Lieu, Harris, Schiff, and Swalwell (okay, so “brains” is kind of a stretch) huddled together and came up with a plan.

You might ask why the many, many brilliant liberals that infest, um bless the State of California haven’t addressed this plague of homelessness to date, well it would seem that these mental giants have been far too busy involving themselves in phony Russian investigations and Ukrainian witch hunts to concern themselves with the measly little problems of their subjects err constituents.

The gigantic liberal minds involved in sweeping this problem under the rug addressing this issue developed a program called “Project Room Key”. This well thought out (just kidding) initiative was launched by Governor Clueless errr… Newsome in April of this year. The program (according to California Government website Ca.gov) was full of high hopes and involved moving the homeless from the highly visible encampments that were no more than giant Petri dishes for any type of virus, to less visible hotels that were experiencing many vacancies due to the lockdown of the State. According to the website Ca.com

…Governor Gavin Newsom announced that California has become the first state in the nation to secure FEMA approval to provide safe isolation capacity for tens of thousands of people experiencing homelessness in California in order to protect them and the state from COVID-19.

The state’s effort, Project Roomkey, has set an initial goal of securing up to 15,000 rooms for this purpose and county partners have moved 869 homeless individuals most vulnerable to COVID-19 off the street, out of shelters, and into isolation.

That all sounds great on the surface doesn’t it? After all, it’s not as if liberal programs ever go wrong, right? Stick the homeless in a few Motel 8’s and problem solved! Sadly, much like other seemingly well-intended liberal programs, Project Room Key blew up spectacularly

As the old saying goes, involve one liberal politician in something and it becomes a disaster, if you involve two or more then it becomes, well….it becomes an even bigger disaster (okay, that’s not really an old saying, but it should be).

In the case of Project Room Key, Liberals (unlike everyone else in the world) apparently didn’t realize that many people in homeless situations suffer from substance abuse (which is oft times what led to the homeless situation), and that abuse typically involves tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, and other illicit substances such as meth, crack, crank and heroin. How would politicians keep the homeless from returning to those areas where the above materials were easily procured?

Of course, big government (of which liberals are so fond) had the answer, because, after all, don’t they have the solution for everything? The government didn’t want anyone leaving the internment camps um hotels to get drugs, so how about bringing the drugs to the hotels! Brilliant, right? Not so much as it turns out

San Francisco was one of the cities implementing Project Room Key, and although the shit-stained streets of the town had seen better days, it was still a liberal mecca.

Not kidding about the shit stained streets

What could go wrong? After all, San Francisco is part of the domain of that bastion of liberal idealism Nancy Pelosi, and Pelosi hasn’t been distracted by impeaching the President and running phony invest….. oh wait, yes she has. Perhaps the woman whose facial expressions are perpetually reminiscent of someone who has a house dropped on a close relative was unaware of the drastic solution to the illicit substances issue

An article that was written by Aria Bendix in Business Insider outlined the problem

…But one aspect of San Francisco’s operation of the hotels has stirred controversy: The city’s Department of Public Health is giving alcohol to guests struggling with addiction and facilitating the delivery of cannabis.

“I just found out that homeless placed in hotels in SF are being delivered alcohol, weed, and methadone because they identified as an addict/alcoholic for FREE,” Thomas Wolf, a drug counselor in San Francisco, tweeted on May 1. “You’re supposed to be offering treatment. This is enabling and is wrong on many levels.”

Hotel rooms, drugs, and alcohol? It would seem that the only thing missing from this equation would be hookers, but no word yet as to whether or not these will be provided

Business Insider made it clear that taxpayers wouldn’t foot the drugs and alcohol, these would be obtained through private donations and it should come as no surprise that a populace that donates money to such things as the “Hey, let’s riot” fund (which may or may not be a thing) would cough up money for Project Room Key.

This was fact-checked by the totally unbiased (kidding) USA Today which thoroughly investigated this matter, an investigation that included a statement by SFDPH Director Dr. Grant Colfax that concluded;

“Our philosophy, in terms of treating people who suffer from addiction substance use disorders, is really again focused on science and the medical literature which shows that a harm reduction approach which includes the continuum, from supporting abstinence and recovery to helping people who continue to use to reduce their harms,” Colfax said. “Meeting them where they are so that they can be cared for in the most appropriate way, in a way that is good for them and for our community.”

Well we are pretty sure that it concluded something in all of those words anyway.

Speaking of communities, the communities where the homeless were dumped um placed were totally supportive of the program

Okay, not really, but at least the program is temporary, just like lock-downs, masks, and public distancing, right? Maybe not. An article written by Susan Shelly that appeared in the Los Angles Daily News stated that although the program began in April

…Now it’s June, and Newsom is “pushing to parlay short-term federal pandemic relief into a long-term remedy for the state’s homelessness crisis by buying vacant hotels and turning them into permanent housing,” according to a report in Politico. He has also released language for a budget trailer bill that says the conversion of hotels and motels to homeless housing “shall not be subject to a conditional use permit, discretionary permit, or to any other discretionary reviews or approvals.”

The governor’s May budget revision would send $600 million in federal funds to California counties starting in July to buy hotels and motels, and if the trailer bill is passed, city governments would be stripped of their powers to review and approve those conversions.

You have to wonder how much of any of this is “temporary” and furthermore, do liberal administrations want these programs to stay temporary? How much of a leap is it from “Heres your drugs and booze” to “Hey Bob, let me help you fill out that ballot, all those boxes can be kind of confusing”?

One thing is for certain, no liberal administration of any size once granted some type of power has ever given it back willingly. The only way to keep yourself from staying helpless, hopeless and utterly dependent on big government is to not allow yourself to become any of these things in the first place.
