MSNBC Host Joe Scarborough agreed Wednesday with President Donald Trump when he said that he was young and vibrant on the campaign trail.
Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski began the discussion by playing a clip where former Vice President Joe Biden claimed that he wouldn’t attack his fellow Democrats because his goal was to make sure whoever did win the primary was strong enough to take on Trump in the 2020 general election.
The pair then compared that statement to the president’s rally last Wednesday in which he went down the roster of Democrats seeking to displace him in the election.
“A couple of weeks ago, when Donald Trump said, ‘I’m young, I’ve got more vigor than them,’” started Scarborough. “Look at a clip like that, and he does. He just does. Let’s be blunt about Donald Trump. That guy can do on a campaign stage what nobody else can do. He can engage the audience. He can engage viewers, despite the hateful rhetoric, despite everything else. You can see that guy is gearing up for 2020. Yes, Democrats, he is going to be hard to beat, because he does look like he is about 20 years younger than a lot of Democratic candidates.”
Trump called himself a “young, vibrant man” in April after a reporter asked him how old was too old to be president. “I just feel like a young man. I’m so young,” he said. “I can’t believe it. I’m the youngest person. I am a young, vibrant man.”
