An Alabama woman was sentenced to death Tuesday after starving her daughter to death.

Tiffany Moss was convicted of starving her 10-year-old daughter and then burning her malnourished body in a trash can in 2013, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Moss was found guilty on all counts including murder after representing herself during trial.
Moss’ stepdaughter allegedly lived in her own waste because she was too malnourished to move. She reportedly weighed only 32 pounds when she died.
Officials claim that after the child died, the parents threw her body in a trash can and set it on fire.
Moss didn’t speak while prosecutors described how she starved the child to a jury panel of six men and six women. She didn’t make any opening or closing statements during the trial or call any witnesses.

After two-and-a-half hours of deliberation, the jury chose to sentence Moss to death instead of giving her life without parole. The child’s father, Eman Moss, is already serving life without parole for his role in the death.
