Speaking Thursday evening before a raucous crowd in Michigan in advance of his father, President Donald Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., said rally attendees were “not very nice” for directing a critical chant at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., – but then went on to slam the freshman congresswoman’s much-hyped Green New Deal plan.
Trump Jr.’s criticism of the New York Democrat’s ambitious climate-change proposal and her knowledge of government triggered the impassioned crowd’s chant.
“Think about the fact that every mainstream leading Democratic contender is taking the advice of a freshman congresswoman who three weeks ago didn’t know the three branches of government,” he said, referring to remarks Ocasio-Cortez made during a livestream on Instagram in November.
“If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress — uh, rather, all three chambers of government: the presidency, the Senate, and the House in 2020,” she said then.
“I don’t know about you guys but that’s pretty scary,” Trump Jr. added.
His words sparked the crowd to break out into shouts of “AOC sucks!” Trump Jr. paused and smiled in apparent appreciation. He then delivered what appeared to be a tongue-in-cheek chastisement to the assembled Trump supporters, before once again slamming Ocasio-Cortez.
“You’re not very nice and neither is what that policy would do to this country,” he said.

Ocasio-Cortez delivered an impassioned response to Republican criticisms of the Green New Deal during a committee hearing Tuesday.
After the much-hyped proposal failed to pass the Senate Tuesday in a 57-0 vote, the New York Democrat pushed back on Rep. Sean Duffy’s, R-W.I., claim that the plan was an “elitist” issue.
“One year ago I was waitressing in a taco shop in downtown Manhattan,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “I just got health insurance for the first time a month ago. This is not an elitist issue. This is a quality of life issue.”
Video of Ocasio-Cortez’s went viral on social media. The progressive Democrat’s supporters, as well as friendly liberal media outlets, gushed over her performance. Conservatives and Ocasio-Cortez’s critics were less impressed.
Children are dying from low air quality and tainted water? Aside from the Flint debacle — whose origin was under the Obama admin — please give me one concrete example of poisonous water or air so polluted that it’s killing people

Since introducing the ambitious Green New Deal shortly after taking office, Ocasio-Cortez has been at the center of the climate change debate. While her proposal was quickly embraced by some of the leading Democratic presidential candidates, critics claim the plan does little to actually address climate change, arguing the plan is expensive and unrealistic.
