So Much For Being The ‘Champion Of The Working-Class And Poor’ – Ocasio-Cortez’s Campaign Gets Slammed With Serious Fines For One Major Hypocrisy!

Newly sworn-in democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has quickly become a darling on the Left, fashioning herself as the voice of the working class and the poor. But now she’s under fire for failing to provide people who worked for her proper legal protection.

As reported by The New York Daily News on Thursday, Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign has been hit with a New York state fine for failing to carry workers’ compensation coverage.

“The employer did not have the required workers’ compensation coverage from March 31, 2018, to April 30, 2018, and was issued a final penalty of $1,500, which was paid,” said Melissa Stewart, the spokeswoman for New York’s Workers Compensation Board.

“This coverage is vital to ensuring workers are protected for on-the-job injuries,” said the spokeswoman.

The failure to provide workers’ compensation coverage lasted one month, as noted by Stewart, but that was enough for fellow Democrats to voice concern over the report and critics of the young rep to highlight the lack of coverage as evidence of “hypocrisy.”

According to the NYDN, a “Democratic campaign veteran scoffed that ‘it’s not a great look’ for Ocasio-Cortez that her campaign received a fine for not carrying workers’ compensation coverage.”

“This is basic stuff, especially if you hold yourself out to be the champion of workers,” added the Democrat.

GOP spokeswoman Jessica Proud called the news “hypocrisy at its finest.”

“The so-called champion of workers, when given her own responsibility, is not following the law. It’s unbelievable,” Proud said.

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, who is extremely active on social media, has yet to respond to the embarrassing report.

The 29-year-old, who shockingly bested incumbent New York Rep. Joe Crowley in a June Democratic congressional primary, was recently in the news for giving a wild response to President Donald Trump’s Wednesday Oval Office address to the nation.

“I cannot tell you the amount of dysfunction that this president is advancing,” she said on MSNCB following the address, as reported by The Daily Wire. “We have now over 100 new members of this freshman class. I cannot even get laptops to my caseworkers in the Bronx and Queens so they can process the needs of our constituents. We cannot get their casework started because we cannot even get laptops in the hands of our district offices because the president has decided to hold the paychecks of everyday Americans hostage so that he can fulfill campaign, I don’t even want to call it a promise, a campaign fantasy that the vast majority of Americans disapprove of.”

Additionally, Ocasio-Cortez accused: President Trump “has a proven track record of discrimination against anybody who’s really non-white in the United States” predating his 2016 election to the White House.

In a comparison that Ocasio-Cortez would surely hate, politicos have pointed out that the New York rep. has “Trumpian” tendencies. For example, during a recent “60 Minutes” interview, she explained that being “morally right” is more important than being factually accurate.

“I think that there’s a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right,” she told host Anderson Cooper.

The freshman representative was sure to deny that such a sentiment is comparable to the president at all. “Whenever I make a mistake. I say, ‘OK, this was clumsy.’ and then I restate what my point was. But it’s— it’s not the same thing as— as the president lying about immigrants. It’s not the same thing, at all,” she said.

In November, the elected Democrat became the youngest female rep. in Congress in U.S. history.
