First lady Melania Trump said she supports the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted, but they need to have “hard evidence” backing up their allegations.

“I support the women and they need to be heard. We need to support them. Also, men. Not just women,” she told ABC News when asked about the #MeToo movement against sexual misconduct. “We need to have really hard evidence … show the evidence.”
The first lady also placed blame on the media for its coverage, saying the press occasionally goes “too far” in the way it reports allegations of sexual misconduct.
“I do stand with women, but we need to show the evidence. you can not just say to somebody, ‘I was sexually assaulted’ or ‘You did that to me’ because sometimes the media goes too far. The way they portray some stories, it’s not correct. It’s not right,” she said.
Trump broke her silence last week on the allegations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who at that point had yet to be confirmed, during her trip to Egypt.
The first lady said she was glad Kavanaugh and one of his accusers, Christine Blasey Ford, had a chance to be heard, but that Kavanaugh was also “highly qualified” for the job.
Trump did not say whether she believed Ford’s allegations.
Ford accused Kavanaugh last month of sexually assaulting her when they were both at a party in high school. Kavanaugh has vociferously denied the allegations.
