The first “flop” of the infamous and non-existent “blue wave” has happened.

Depressed, crying Chuck Schumer was just forced to admit that the Democrats would NOT be able to regain the Senate.

No, Chuck, you won’t. As a matter of fact, Republicans will pick up several seats.

Washington Examiner

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Sunday acknowledged it would be difficult for Democrats to seize control of the upper chamber during the 2018 midterm elections, but said their odds were better now than they were this summer.

“I’d love to see the Senate go blue, but it looks like a very hard task because the geography is against us,” Schumer, D-N.Y., said during an interview with John Catsimatidis on AM 970 in New York. “There are 25 Democrats up for re-election, eight Republicans, and many of the Democrats come from states where Donald Trump won by more than 20 points.”

Schumer, however, added there was still cause for optimism, citing a recent shift toward Democrats as the November elections come into focus for voters across the country.

“Even people who like Donald Trump in those states, and there are a good number of them, who say that they might want a check and balance on President Trump on the Democratic side as opposed to someone who is just going to do everything Trump wants,” he continued. “So we’re making progress, and I would call it neck-and-neck. You can’t be certain at all that the Democrats will take over the Senate, but it is a much greater possibility than it was even two months ago.”

RealClearPolitics’ poll aggregator suggests Republicans are likely to get 47 seats to the Democrats’ 44 seats. Nine seats are still considered toss-ups, according to the news outlet’s polling data.
