George Clooney has pledged half a million dollars to take down the National Rifle Association and repeal the Second Amendment. Not to be outdone, Oprah tweeted that she would match Clooney’s donation to “March For Our Lives.” The two celebrities, as well as snowflake students across the nation, hope walking out en masse will be enough to move politicians to ban guns.

George and Amal Clooney are donating half a million dollars to March For Our Lives and say they’ll take to the streets next month with pro-gun control demonstrators in Washington, D.C., following last week’s deadly school shooting in South Florida.
“Amal and I are so inspired by the courage and eloquence of these young men and women from Stoneman Douglas High School,” the Academy Award-winning actor told ITK in a Tuesday statement.
“Our family will be there on March 24 to stand side by side with this incredible generation of young people from all over the country,” Clooney said, “and in the name of our children Ella and Alexander, we’re donating 500,000 dollars to help pay for this groundbreaking event.”
“Our children’s lives depend on it,” said Clooney.
In a tweet later Tuesday, Oprah Winfrey matched the Clooneys’ donation and their support for the survivors:
Students who survived last week’s shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., which killed 17, said Sunday that they were planning a protest march in Washington.
The mission of the march, according to its website, is to demand that kids’ “lives and safety become a priority and that we end gun violence and mass shootings in our schools today.”
“School safety is not a political issue,” the website says. “The mission and focus of March For Our Lives is to demand that a comprehensive and effective bill be immediately brought before Congress to address these gun issues.”
There is no question that conservatives and liberals alike want our children to be safe at school. Unfortunately, taking away our right to bear arms is not going to accomplish this. Do you think further gun control would really stop school shootings?
