Oprah Winfrey for president is the talk of the town following the long-time daytime television host’s speech at the Golden Globes. But there’s some bad news for everyone who thinks that the billionaire TV host is going to become the next president.

Oprah spent the bulk of her time on stage addressing sexual harassment of women. Months ago, liberals were trying to pin that one, too, on Trump. But that was before everyone was forced to acknowledge that the most monstrous sexual predators in the country are in Hollywood.
Her speech was solid, and certainly inspired that particular audience, so much so that everyone’s now clamoring for Oprah to challenge Trump in the 2020 presidential election.
On paper, Oprah would seem the perfect candidate for Democrats to pit against Trump. She’s wildly popular, even with Republicans; she’s well-spoken; and she’s got star-power, which is what’s probably needed to unseat a fellow celebrity.
But it’s not that simple, and those calling for Oprah to run are likely to be sorely disappointed.
While Oprah has vaguely teased the notion several times, on other recent occasions she has outright rejected the idea of running for president.
“I will never run for public office. That’s a pretty definitive thing,” Winfrey told the Hollywood Reporter just last June.
But the interviewer pressed anyway, demanding to know of Oprah whether or not she could beat Trump in 2020. Her response:
“I don’t know. I don’t know the answer to that. But I’ll never have to know the answer to that, because I will never run for public office.”
Oprah may have all the money in the world, but there’s no way she will ever be President of the United States.
