Yet another benefit to having a true businessman in the White House is that he’s going to combat waste.
This goes beyond just draining the swamp of political ineffectiveness.
The government is wasting mind-boggling amounts of taxpayers’ money. Politicians might see little problem in this, especially when it benefits them personally, but a business leader won’t stand for it.
That’s not the way to run a successful corporation, or country.
So, when Trump discovered that government employees were about to give themselves a massive 26% raise in 2018, he took immediate action.
In a letter to the Speaker of the House, Trump wrote:
Title 5, United States Code, authorizes me to implement alternative pay plans for pay increases for civilian Federal employees covered by the General Schedule and certain other pay systems if, because of “national emergency or serious economic conditions affecting the general welfare,” I view the adjustments that would otherwise take effect as inappropriate.
Under current law, in addition to a 1.9 percent across-the-board increase for the base General Schedule, locality pay increases averaging 26.16 percent and costing $26 billion would go into effect in January 2018. A pay increase of this magnitude is not warranted.
And just like that, Trump saved us billions.
