Media analysts and political pundits can finally rest easy. The cause of former Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton‘s 2016 election defeat has been discovered. It comes straight from Clinton’s mouth, so we know it must (ahem) be true.
Clinton enlightened the audience at the Women in the World Summit in New York on Thursday. Speaking in an on-stage interview format, she was asked why she lost the election.
“Certainly, misogyny played a role. I mean, that has to be admitted,” Clinton said, according to The Daily Caller.
It gets better. Sexism was just the first of a litany of reasons Clinton offered for her stunning loss to President Donald Trump.
First, Clinton said, FBI Director James Comey revived the investigation into her private email server after more emails were discovered (30,000 more), according to Variety.
Russian hackers also played a big role, she said, as did the fact that she’s just too darn successful. Clinton claimed there is an “inverse relationship” between success and likability that only applies to women.
That’s a fine list that Hillary Clinton is carrying around. The only problem is that she isn’t on it.
Clinton lost the election because voters in key states didn’t trust her and wanted Donald Trump’s vision for America to be realized. She lost the election because Americans outside deep blue Democrat strongholds had had it up to here with the status quo and with empty promises.
Hillary Clinton lost the election because, in the sanctity of the voting booth, Americans searched their collective conscience and decided they want a country they can be proud of. We want strong leadership that puts American interests first, protects our borders, and creates jobs for the best workforce in the world.
The bright spot in Clinton’s remarks is that when asked about her future political plans, she said “I don’t think that will include ever running for office again,” according to The New York Times.
