For the past week, Donald Trump has been aggressively pushing the Republican Party to do more to connect with African-American voters. At every rally, Trump makes it a point to reach out to African-Americans who may be upset with the Democrat Party.
Trump has declared that African-American voters have nothing to lose by voting for him and has continuously blasted Democrats as responsible for the terrible conditions in most of America’s inner cities.
At a rally in Ohio on Monday, Trump upped his rhetoric against liberal policies, describing America’s inner cities as “war zones” and laying the blame squarely at the feet of Democrats, The Hill reported.
“For those hurting the most, who have been failed and failed by their politicians, year after year, failure after failure, worse numbers after worse numbers, poverty, rejection, horrible education, no houses, no homes, no ownership, crime at levels that nobody has seen,” Trump said.
“You could go to war zones in countries that we’re fighting and it’s safer than living in some of our inner cities that are run by the Democrats,” he stated.
For years, liberal policies have kept many African-Americans, Hispanics and other minorities in a state of dependency and poverty. Trump is trying to tell these people that the Republican Party offers a better chance to break that cycle and earn a decent future than the Democrat Party.
You can watch the full Trump rally here; the pertinent remarks begin just after the 45-minute mark:
Many minorities have voted Democrat for years, believing that the Democrat Party actually cares about them. However nothing ever changes — if anything, things get worse.
“l’ll straighten it out. I’ll bring jobs back, we’ll bring spirit back. I’ll get rid of the crime, so you’ll be able to walk down the street without getting shot. Right now, you walk down the street, you get shot,” Trump said, in a heartfelt plea to communities torn apart by violence every day.
