Ted Cruz announced Wednesday that he has filed the official paperwork to run for his Senate seat in 2018.
“Heidi and I feel incredibly privileged to have made the run for president and be part of an incredible grassroots movement,” Cruz said in a statement released through his Ted Cruz for Senate campaign committee. “I will continue fighting for jobs, freedom, and security in the Senate for 27 million Texans and all Americans across this great country. The conservative movement remains strong and vibrant. When conservatives are united, we are far more effective.”
The announcement comes two days after Cruz returned to the Senate and a little more than a week after he suspended his bid for the Republican nomination after losing in the Indiana primary.
