An arrest warrant was issued and criminal charges have been filed against one of the candidates for President of the United States.  Unfortunately, and unsurprisingly, it wasn’t Hillary Clinton.

Jill Stein, the Green Party presidential candidate, was charged with misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass and criminal mischief on Wednesday, according to CBS News.

Stein was protesting along with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to stop construction of a pipeline that would damage sacred and culturally sensitive grounds and lead to possible pollution of fresh water sources.

Stein even tweeted a photo of herself spray-painting “I approve this message” in red over the bulldozer.

The tribe requested the stoppage of the construction of the site near Lake Oahe after workers bulldozed sites “of great historic and cultural significance to the tribe.”

Videos document several protesters being bitten by security dogs, including a young child and a pregnant woman, as well as 30 reported being maced by the security guards standing in between the construction crews and the protesters.

“Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Chairman Dave Archambault II compared illegal actions taken by protesters, like those that bound themselves to equipment, to Rosa Parks refusing to give up her bus seat during the Civil Rights movement: ‘It was illegal but it was the right thing to do,’” the Tribune reported.
