WSJ – The Senate passed a resolution blocking President Trump from using military force against Iran without congressional authorization, in the latest bipartisan effort on Capitol Hill to rein in presidential war-making powers.
The resolution passed the GOP-controlled Senate, despite opposition from Mr. Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. The Democratic-controlled House has indicated it will take up the resolution, which doesn’t prevent the U.S. from responding in the event of an attack.
It was passed 55-45, which means eight Republicans sided with Democrats:
Senate PASSES Iran War Powers Resolution, 55-45. It now goes to the House, and faces a certain veto from Pres Trump.
EIGHT REPUBLICANS VOTED TO PASS THE RESOLUTION:
Alexander
Cassidy
Collins
Lee
Moran
Murkowski
Paul

Mike Lee, Rand Paul….of course.
Trump has asked the Senate not to approve this yesterday, saying it would show weakness if they did…
It is very important for our Country’s SECURITY that the United States Senate not vote for the Iran War Powers Resolution. We are doing very well with Iran and this is not the time to show weakness. Americans overwhelmingly support our attack on terrorist Soleimani….

….If my hands were tied, Iran would have a field day. Sends a very bad signal. The Democrats are only doing this as an attempt to embarrass the Republican Party. Don’t let it happen!

After it passes the House, which you know it will, all signs point to Trump issuing a veto when this finally hits his desk. And then it will be dead.
