A medical expert hired by Jeffrey Epstein’s team said the findings of the autopsy conducted on the deceased financier are more consistent with homicide than suicide.
Dr. Michael Baden, 85, gave his expert opinion during a Wednesday appearance on “Fox & Friends.”
Baden is a former New York City medical examiner with decades of experience on high-profile forensic pathology cases.
Epstein’s brother hired Baden to observe the autopsy on the convicted pedophile, who was officially deemed to have killed himself on Aug. 10 while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges involving female minors.
“Those three fractures are extremely unusual in suicidal hangings and could occur much more commonly in homicidal strangulation,” Baden told the “Fox & Friends” panel. “I’ve not seen in 50 years where that occurred in a suicidal hanging case.”
Fox News characterized Baden’s comments as a “bombshell claim” in a Wednesday report.
A number of other experts have made similar observations in the past. But after an unexpected delay, New York City Medical Examiner Barbara Sampson Aug. 16 ruled Epstein’s death had been caused by suicide by hanging.
