Independent reports:

Arsenal midfielder Frida Maanum is in a stable condition after collapsing and being taken off on a stretcher in her side’s Women’s League Cup final against Chelsea at Molineux on Sunday.

The Norway international went down in second-half stoppage time with the scores level at 0-0, prompting a delay of several minutes.

Maanum lay on her side as striker Stina Blackstenius, who went on to score Arsenal’s extra-time winner, watched over her and captain Katie McCabe gestured for help.

The 24-year-old quickly received treatment before being removed from the field and being replaced by Alessia Russo as the game resumed, with Blackstenius getting the only goal of the game in the 116th minute to secure the trophy.

Maanum is the fifth footballer to collapse on the pitch within one month.

34-year-old Makhehlene Makhaula, a South African professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for South African Premier Division club Orlando Pirates, collapsed on the pitch.

“World Football, unfortunately, has been subject to so many distressing scenes on the pitch over the last few years,” a commentator said.

24-year-old Javier Altamirano, a Chilean footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Argentine Primera División side Estudiantes de La Plata, and the Chile national football team, collapsed on the pitch and suffered a seizure.

Ahmed Refaat, a 30-year-old Egyptian professional footballer, collapsed on the pitch during a contest between his club, Modern Future FC, and Ittihad, suffering an apparent cardiac arrest.

Refaat, a former international teammate of Mohamed Salah, reportedly stopped breathing “for more than an hour.”

Medical personnel rushed Refaat to a hospital and placed him in an intensive care unit.

Guillermo Denis Beltrán, a 24-year-old Colombian striker, died after collapsing during training with his Bolivian club.

He reportedly died of “respiratory arrest.”

“Colombian Guillermo Denis Beltrán (24), youth player from #AtléticoNacional , died today in Bolivia. He collapsed in training with #RealSantaCruz , he was taken to a hospital where they tried to revive him, but it was not possible,” Pipe Sierra wrote (translated).

“The Real Santa Cruz Sports Club reports the sensitive death of our player Guillermo Denis Beltrán, friend, teammate and a great professional. We pray to the Lord to have him in his holy glory,” Club Deportivo Real Santa Cruz announced (translated).
