The Biden regime’s equity-focused “infrastructure” bill has a provision buried in it to mandate all new motor vehicles have some type of DUI prevention system to keep people from starting their own cars.

A $1 trillion infrastructure bill under debate by the U.S. Senate includes a provision that directs U.S. regulators to mandate a passive technology to prevent intoxicated drivers from starting vehicles and avert more than 10,000 deaths annually.
For more than 15 years, automakers and others have studied potential technological fixes to address the roughly one-third of annual U.S. traffic deaths that involved impaired drivers.
The legislative push has won the backing of the advocacy group Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the auto insurance industry and some alcohol trade associations.

The Senate bill does not specify the technology but said it must “passively monitor the performance of a driver of a motor vehicle to accurately identify whether that driver may be impaired.”

Passive alcohol sensors will detect hand sanitizer (ethyl) and windshield washer alcohol (methyl). Simply turning on the windshield washer will immobilize your car. If you are on the freeway at 75-80 mph in bumper to bumper traffic you will cause a massive accident at high speed possibly involving dozens of vehicles or even hundreds of vehicles. At these speeds there would be hundreds of victims. Immobilization will cause death and destruction. The law does not say who gets the mandatory video surveillance and it specifically states that it can be used “for other reasons”…which means that the video (and I presume audio) can be used by any government, police, FBI, criminal, or hacker anytime they want without a warrant. Detailed testing has shown that the systems in cars are wide open to hacking. Car and Driver magazine reported on the ease with which hackers can even apply your brakes or pin your accelerator. This will cause more damage than the drunk driving they are trying to prevent. Just another way an out of control government can spy on you without any restriction, violate your rights and even kill you if they want. By the way the law also specifies that the video must additionally identify race, ??????
