The Senate acted swiftly Monday night, in a 91-7 vote, to approve more than $900 billion for coronavirus assistance, shortly after the House of Representatives passed the package. The aid comes after months of partisan sniping over what elements should be in a relief measure that virtually all lawmakers on Capitol Hill argued was long overdue.
The measure now heads to President Trump’s desk. In order to avoid a shutdown, since federal agencies would have run out of money at midnight Monday, a 7-day stop-gap spending bill was also approved to allow time to process the combined relief and annual funding bills.
The stimulus bill is 5,593 pages long and has to be delivered in a hand cart
So lawmakers aren’t even reading the bill before voting on nearly $1 trillion dollars of spending.
They FINALLY agreed to hand out a $600 dollar check to every American after they ruined the economy and millions of lives.
Family members of illegal aliens are now eligible to get stimulus checks. That eligibility is retrotactive, so adults excluded last time could get up to $1800 now.
According to the Wall Street Journal, households will receive $600 for each adult and $600 for each child or dependent, instead of $1,200 and $500, respectively.
Eligible households include individuals with adjusted gross incomes under $75,000 and married couples who earn under $150,000.
The new deal, ironed out by the Democrats, includes direct payments for “mixed households.” Mixed households refers to “ineligible non-citizens” or people who are in the country illegally and were shut out of the $1,200 stimulus payments in the first round.
The new legislation means non-citizens could get $600 checks plus $1,200 checks retroactively. Undocumented immigrants are eligible to receive a minimum of $1,800 before Christmas.
Unemployed workers are eligible for a $300-a-week subsidy in addition to weekly state unemployment benefits.
It also reduces the number of beds ICE can house illegals in. So essentially catch and release.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who was the lead negotiator for congressional Democrats defended the package, which was half of what she had been holding out for over several months, saying “we want to do more.” She pledged that the compromise represented “a first step” and more would be coming after President-elect Joe Biden took office.
In 2018 Pelosi called $1,000+ bonuses being handed out by businesses after tax cuts “crumbs” and “pathetic” but called the $600 stimulus checks “significant.”
President Trump in October said he would sign a stand-alone bill for $1200 stimulus checks but lawmakers refused to work with him and now we know why.
While Americans are only getting $600 so a huge part of our taxpayer’s money is going abroad!
$135 million to Burma
$85.5 million to Cambodia
$1.4 billion for “Asia Reassurance Initiative Act”
$130 million to Nepal
$700 million to Sudan
$250 million in Palestinian aid
$25 million for “gender programs” in Pakistan.
After months of stonewalling and playing politics, they all agreed on the “Stimulus Bill” that will benefit everyone except the American people!
President Trump needs to VETO this bill!
