Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has defeated Democrat Amy McGrath and secured a reelection victory in Kentucky, according to the Associated Press.
McConnell currently has 59% of the vote with more than 400,000 Kentucky residents voting for the Republican senator, according to The Associated Press.
McConnell beat out Democrat Amy McGrath, a former U.S. Marine Corps fighter pilot and the first woman to fly an F/A-18 in combat.
McGrath called herself “further Left and more Progressive than anyone in the state of Kentucky.”
On his official government website, McConnell says he is “the most conservative leader of either party in the history of the Senate.” McConnell has also called himself the “Grim Reaper” for his ability to kill legislation put forward by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
