President Donald Trump responded Friday to news that Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings’ Baltimore home had been burglarized.
And not surprisingly, his response was brilliant.
A bit of background: WJZ-TV’s Mike Hellgren reported Thursday that Cummings’ home had been broken into.
“The Baltimore Police Department is investigating a report of a burglary that occurred July 27, 2019 at approximately 3:40 am, at a home in the 2000 block of Madison Avenue,” police said in a statement.

“At this time, it is unknown if any property was taken from the location,” the statement added.
Cummings, whose district encompasses parts of Baltimore, has been in the news as he feuds with Trump.
In a Saturday tweet, Trump took aim at Cummings’ district, calling it a “disgusting, rat and rodent-infested mess.”
While the alleged burglary at Cummings home came the same day as Trump’s tweets, it’s worth noting that the president’s post came hours after police say the alleged break-in happened.
On Friday morning, Trump issued a short response via Twitter to the news of the burglary at Cummings’ home.
“Really bad news! The Baltimore house of Elijah Cummings was robbed,” the president tweeted.

“Too bad!”
Trump, of course, was criticized to no end by Democrats and the establishment media for what he said about Baltimore.
If anything, this incident proves he was right.
Baltimore does have a crime problem, despite the fact that liberals would like to ignore the city’s issues so they can keep bashing the president.
This latest news will be difficult for them to ignore, and it seems Trump realizes the break-in at Cummings’ home, while unfortunate, proves his point.
Cummings, for his part, said Friday that he scared away the home intruder.
“An individual attempted to gain entry into my residence at approximately 3:40 AM on Saturday, July 27,” he said in a statement to The Baltimore Sun.
“I was notified of the intrusion by my security system, and I scared the intruder away by yelling before the person gained entry into the residential portion of the house. I thank the Baltimore Police Department for their response and ask that all further inquiries be directed to them.”
