Mitch McConnell ROASTS AOC’s Outrage Over Green New Deal Defeat!

“im not owned! im not owned!!”

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s tweet criticizing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell following the Senate blocking the Green New Deal Tuesday elicited a mocking reply from the McConnell campaign’s Twitter account.

In a 57-0 vote Tuesday, the Senate rejected the much-hyped Green New Deal proposal, which has been touted heavily by progressive democrats, most notably Ocasio-Cortez.

Republican Sen. John Barasso, a critic of the climate-change plan, accused Senate Democrats of ducking the proposal by adhering to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s strategy of voting present.

In response, Ocasio-Cortez tweeted that she had in fact “encouraged” Democrats to vote present on the proposal, which addresses a problem that the freshman congresswoman has warned could end the world in 12 years.

The Team Mitch McConnell account replied with an allusion to a popular meme, insinuating that Ocasio-Cortez was simply unwilling to concede that she’d been bested.

Earlier in the day, McConnell tweeted that the vote would allow the American people to “see which senators are so fully committed to radical left-wing ideology that they can’t even vote ‘no’ on self-inflicted economic ruin that would take a sledgehammer to America’s middle class.”

Schumer has previously called McConnell’s plan to force Democrats to go on the record with their support of the ambitious – and expensive – plan, a political “stunt.”

Last month, McConnell announced his intention to hold a vote on the Green New Deal in the Senate. Barrasso said then that the main motivation was to call out Democratic presidential wannabes, saying it’s important “to get people on record as to how much they really want to take this country in a hard left direction.”

Ocasio-Cortez, likely the most vocal proponent of the controversial plan, expressed outrage Saturday at the GOP’s intention to hold a vote on the climate-change proposal.

“The GOP’s whole game of wasting votes in Congress to target others ‘on the record’, for leg they have no intent to pass, is a disgrace,” the freshman congresswoman said in a tweeted reply to Washington Post congressional reporter Paul Kane.

Conservatives on social media found it strange that Ocasio-Cortez appeared to be agitated that the legislation she supports was being voted on.

“If planet is in a crisis and this serious proposal (totally not a stunt!) is the only plan to save it, you would think AOC wd be: 1) thanking McConnell for scheduling a vote & 2) working to get votes to pass it,” conservative writer Allen Ginzburg queried. “In fact, shouldn’t she be mad at Pelosi for not doing the same?”

Conservatives were similarly puzzled by Senate Democrats’ refusal to endorse the plan Tuesday. “Politicians who want to be president should have the political courage either to vote for the proposals they say they support or to publicly oppose the policies for which they refuse to vote,” tweeted National Review’s Alexandra DeSanctis.

  1. I’m impressed, I have to admit. Genuinely rarely should i encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you may have hit the nail about the head. Your idea is outstanding; the problem is an element that insufficient persons are speaking intelligently about. I am delighted we came across this during my look for something with this.
