She Can’t Be Serious! AOC Is PISSED That GOP Pushing To Vote On Her Green New Deal

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: The Green New Deal is so urgent that the world will end in 12 years if we don’t start following it.

Senate Republicans: All right, then — let’s vote on it.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: How could you?

Yes, the Green New Deal is such an urgent piece of legislation that the idea of holding a vote on it in the Senate is a big problem for the freshman New York Democrat who proposed the much-ballyhooed resolution.

The whole kerfuffle has to do with the fact that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wants to hold a vote on the plan, in part to get Democrats on the record.

“The Green New Deal continues to be an interesting discussion for, particularly, Republicans and we will, of course, give our Democratic friends who’ve been advocating this proposal an opportunity to debate it and vote on it on the Senate floor sometime in the next couple of weeks,” McConnell said Tuesday, according to Reuters.

Senate Democrats want hearings and debate on the issue before a vote. Without them, they’re calling the move “cynical.” Unlike, say, hearings and debate, which wouldn’t be a forum for posturing and donor clips at all.

In any event, the now-notorious AOC isn’t happy that Republicans are addressing the Green New Deal this way.

“The GOP’s whole game of wasting votes in Congress to target others ‘on the record’, for (legislation) they have no intent to pass, is a disgrace,” she said.

“Stop wasting the American peoples’ time + learn to govern. Our jobs aren’t for campaigning, & that’s exactly what these bluff-votes are for.”

So basically, Ocasio-Cortez is blasting the Republicans for putting legislation that won’t pass to a vote, implying that it’s posturing.

What do you say, then, about people who introduce legislation that won’t pass and then cry foul when Republicans decide to put it to a vote?

The Green New Deal has always been a farce designed to get Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez even more media time than she was already getting.

It was a great way to get Democrats on the record that they cared about the environment without actually having to risk anything.

And then the Republicans said, “all right, if you like this legislation so much, let’s see you get on the record about it.”

Lo and behold, the progenitor of this whole thing doesn’t want anyone to go on record. She just wants to keep on talking about it.

Yet, back in February, she indicated that until Republicans did something about climate change, she was the one in charge.

“Like I just introduced the Green New Deal two weeks ago, and it’s creating all of this conversation. Why? Because no one else has even tried. Because no one else has even tried,” she said at an event in New York City.

“So people are like, ‘Oh, it’s unrealistic. Oh, it’s vague. Oh, it doesn’t address this little minute thing. And I’m like, ‘You try. You do it. Cause you’re not. Cause you’re not. So, until you do it, I’m the boss.’ How about that?”

Does this mean that Republicans are the bosses now?

Maybe that’s why she’s so ornery over this.

The Green New Deal was designed never to be voted upon, just bandied about as a talking point.

And now that that’s obvious, even supporters might rethink this massively expensive, massively destructive, massively useless piece of legislation.
