Dan Crenshaw Draws Fire From Trump Supporters After Lecturing Trump On McCain Criticisms

Over the past few days, President Donald Trump has randomly attacked the late Arizona Senator John McCain, generating headlines and drama within the Republican party.

One lawmaker, in particular, isn’t too thrilled with the constant attacks on a dead man. Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R) publicly reached out on Twitter and advised Trump to cease his attacks on McCain.

“Mr. President, seriously stop talking about Senator McCain,” tweeted Crenshaw.

Many fans of Trump weren’t happy at all about this and responded to Crenshaw.

Trump has continued to insult McCain despite repeated calls from veterans to cease his attacks according to The Hill:

Veterans’ groups expressed outrage over Trump’s continued attacks on McCain, a naval aviator who spent more than five years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

Vietnam Veterans of America National President John Rowan said in a statement Thursday his group is “chagrined” that Trump will not “let a fellow Vietnam veteran rest in peace.”

“This entire dustup is disgraceful, it’s deplorable and it’s destructive,” Paul Rieckhoff, founder of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, said on CNN. “It’s bad for our military and veterans community and it’s bad for Donald Trump. This doesn’t help him. I can’t imagine who would support this position, continuing to attack a war hero.”

Crenshaw isn’t the only GOP lawmaker criticizing Trump for attacking the late McCain, as Texas Rep. Chip Roy also weighed in on the controversy with a thread on the matter.

“I disagree with the POTUS standing in front of M1A1 Abram tanks & the American flag and spending time trashing POW veteran and former US Senator McCain, and as Commander-in-Chief characterizing our time fighting in the Middle East as an unqualified disaster,” began Roy.
