If I Didn’t Know Better, Fox News’ Latest Hire/Fire Look Like A Large Leap To The ‘Center Left’

“I know I’m going to get criticized from my friends in the progressive movement.”

Fox News announced Monday that it is hiring the former head of the Democratic Party as a paid contributor – a move sure to upset liberals even as it seems to conservative concerns that the network is moving leftward.

Former Democratic National Committee chairwoman Donna Brazile will provide analysis on both Fox News and the Fox Business Network. Anticipating backlash from fellow progressives, Brazile issued a statement claiming that she saw the move as an opportunity to spread the Democratic message.

“I know I’m going to get criticized from my friends in the progressive movement for being on Fox News,” she said. “My response is that, if we’ve learned anything from the 2016 election, it is that we can’t have a country were we don’t talk to those who disagree with our political views.”

Brazile continued: “There’s an audience on Fox News that doesn’t hear enough from Democrats. We have to engage that audience and show Americans of every stripe what we stand for rather than threat into our ‘safe spaces’ where we simply agree with each other. For there is no safety in self-limiting numbers. You can be darn sure that I’m still going to be me on Fox News. I’m going to do what I always do: and dish it out straight, exactly as I see it, with just as much New Orleans hot sauce as folks expect.”

Brazile, who appeared several times on Fox News in 2017 to promote her book, will make her first appearance as a paid pundit on Dana Perino’s afternoon news show on Monday.

Always suspicious of the network, liberals have been protesting its lack of action against host Tucker Carlson for resurfaced old comments. An expose published this month in the New Yorker claimed that the network has become “an arm of the White House,” in the words of the reporter. The Democrats reacted by saying they would not let Fox News host any of their primary debates.

But nor is Brazile beloved on the left these days, where she is remembered for helming the party during Hillary Clinton’s failed 2016 presidential bid and later writing a tell-all blasting the campaign.

As some liberal Twitter users recalled Monday, Brazile also ran Al Gore’s unsuccessful 2000 presidential campaign.

Meanwhile, some conservatives have lately accused Fox News of going soft, including by reportedly suspending host Jeanine Pirro for questioning whether Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Minnesota Democrat, practices sharia law – which the host said is antithetical to the U.S. Constitution

Though generally a Fox News fan, President Donald Trump, has lately criticized some of the network’s coverage of him, and on Sunday, he joined the calls for Pirro to be reinstated.

Former Sheriff David Clarke on Saturday called for a “viewer revolt” against Fox News over the Pirro controversy. He said the network had moved to the “center left” and blamed Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch’s sons.

“Things at Fox News are a changin’,” Clarke tweeted. “They now lean center left.”

All that aside, Alex Griswold saw an opportunity to own the libs on Monday, and he took it.

The Washington Free Beacon editor tweeted that Brazile’s hiring actually strengthened the Democrats’ case for boycotting Fox News – a reference to the political operative’s leaking of CNN debate questions to the Clinton campaign in 2016.
