Trey Gowdy DESTROYS Elizabeth Warren After Her Uninformed Attacks – Leaves Congress With A BANG!

“The Bulldog” may be leaving Congress for private life — at least for now — but not before getting one last epic shot in on Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

The Massachusetts Democrat had taken to social media to criticize Rep. Trey Gowdy, accusing him of leaving Congress to become a lobbyist.

Gowdy, Warren said, “foamed at the mouth with power in Congress, then retired because he claimed he didn’t enjoy it.

“Now it’s clear: Trey Gowdy just wanted a fat lobbyist paycheck. That should be illegal.”

Warren seemed to get this impression from an article from The Daily Caller News Foundation, “Here is what’s next for Trey Gowdy.”

“Trey Gowdy revealed his post-Congress plans Thursday,” the article read. “The former Republican South Carolina representative will join Nelson Mullins, the South Carolina-based law and lobbying firm announced.

“Gowdy, 54, worked at Nelson Mullins through 1994, when he left the firm to become an assistant federal prosecutor,” it added.

I think what’s pretty amazing here is that Warren (or someone on her staff) reads The Daily Caller. Except whoever reads it doesn’t read beyond the third paragraph.

In the fourth paragraph, it makes it clear he’s not doing lobbying: “Joining Gowdy at Mullins’s white collar defense and government investigations team are his longtime chief of staff, Cindy Crick, and Sheria Clarke, the former staff director for the House Oversight Committee, which Gowdy chaired” (emphasis added).

In other words, he’s a lawyer returning to his former law firm. That’s not lobbying, even if lobbying is one of the firm’s activities.

But that didn’t stop Warren’s uninformed tweeting:

“We need a lifetime ban on lobbying for members of Congress. And fix the swiss cheese def of ‘lobbying’ so anyone who gets paid to influence Washington has to register. Public service shouldn’t be a launching pad for guys like @TGowdySC & @JoeLieberman to enrich themselves.”

Perhaps this would be an attempt to cover herself by expanding the definition of “lobbying” to include being a lawyer who works on government investigations cases — except if she’s doing that, there wouldn’t have been any reason to include Joe Lieberman, who doesn’t need any quotation marks around “lobby” regarding his arrangement with Chinese telecom firm ZTE.

Whatever the case, Gowdy let Warren have it with one parting bulldog shot:

Ouch. And then there was the best response to that tweet, which really ought to be framed:

Now that she’s officially running for president, having buried the announcement of an exploratory committee on New Year’s Eve, Warren pretty much wants everyone to forget about that whole 1/1024th Native American thing and remember that she used to be known for things that didn’t involve apologizing for tone-deaf identity politicking.

Too bad the facts didn’t work out, but it certainly wasn’t a bad try — even if she proved she was the only one foaming at the mouth.
