White House press secretary Sarah Sanders responded to the news that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton may run for president again and compared it to Christmas arriving early.

In a story posted Friday, former Clinton aide Philippe Reines expressed surprise that Clinton’s name wasn’t being floated as a potential 2020 candidate against Trump and said the likelihood of Clinton seeking a third presidential bid is “somewhere between highly unlikely and zero, but it’s not zero.”
“It’s curious why Hillary Clinton’s name isn’t in the mix — either conversationally or in formal polling — as a 2020 candidate,” Reines told Politico. “She’s younger than Donald Trump by a year. She’s younger than Joe Biden by four years. Is it that she’s run before? This would be Bernie Sanders’ second time and Biden’s third time. Is it lack of support? She had 65 million people vote for her.”
Reines also noted that “she is smarter than most, tougher than most, she could raise money easier than most, and it was an absolute fight to the death.”
Clinton ran in the Democratic primary in 2008, but lost the race to former President Barack Obama. She became the Democratic nominee in 2016, but lost to President Trump in November 2016.
Clinton and her husband, former president Bill Clinton, are slated to participate in a 13-city tour after the 2018 midterm elections next month called “An evening with President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
