After THREATENING The Safety Of Trump And His Staffers/Supporters, Maxine Waters Playing The Victim Card

Rep. Maxine Waters canceled two scheduled appearances in Alabama and Texas this weekend because of “hostile mail,” including “one very serious death threat” received from an individual in Texas, and the California Democrat wasted no time laying the blame on President Donald Trump.

“As the President has continued to lie and falsely claim that I encouraged people to assault his supporters, while also offering a veiled threat that I should ‘be careful’, even more individuals are leaving (threatening) messages and sending hostile mail to my office,” the California Democrat said in a statement, according to CNN.

“There was one very serious death threat made against me on Monday from an individual in Texas which is why my planned speaking engagements in Texas and Alabama were canceled (sic) this weekend,” Waters added.

It’s never wise to downplay threats of violence, but to the critical eye the decision to cancel the appearances, which appears to come in the wake of Thursday’s shooting in Annapolis, Maryland, may be seen as the latest example of a Democrat not letting a serious crisis go to waste.

Facing the heat after calling for a campaign of harassment and intimidation against all members of Trump administration, to include being rebuked by leadership in her own party, Waters being seen as a victim would certainly be a reprieve.

The one thing we know with certitude is the Democratic lawmaker is opportunistic.

Early reports indicate that Thursday’s shooting at the Capital Gazette office was not politically motivated, with the killer having a longstanding difference with the paper, but many on the left were quick to blame Trump before the facts came in because of his efforts to expose “fake news.”

In Thursday’s statement, Waters said individuals have “threatened to shoot, lynch, or cause me serious bodily harm.”

But the lawmaker downplayed such threats on Monday — before Thursday’s attack — saying she receives death threats “all the time,” CNN reported.

“I don’t cry about protests,” Waters said at the time. “People protest me all the time. People come to my district office. That’s their right. The only time I have anything to say about protests is when they threaten to kill me, then I turn that in. Otherwise, protests are the American way.”

Threats that not only predate her latest dust-up with the president but contradict her own statement that “a veiled threat” from Trump played a part in these calls for violence.

But then, history shows Rep. Maxine Waters is a walking contradiction.
