Speaking from the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump posthumously pardoned the first African-American heavyweight boxing champion Jack Johnson.
From Conservative Post:
Johnson was the nation’s most dominant heavyweight boxer from 1908-1915.
But, in 1912, he was arrested on trumped-up charges stemming from the rampant racism that was prevalent in many parts of the country at the time. The arrest would tarnish the rest of Johnson’s career, and haunt him for the rest of his life.
Now, one must wonder why Johnson was never before pardoned, especially by America’s first black president, Barack Obama.
Why did it take the supposedly “racist” Trump to finally right this egregious wrong? The truth of the matter, of course, is that Trump, despite any other shortcomings, is obviously no racist.
