Sometimes the internet has to work hard to turn a cringe-worthy, meme-laden, moment of social media mockery into a trending sensation. But, not this time.

Fergie, the singer known to many as one-fourth of the Black Eyed Peas, sung the national anthem with all the sultry suggestion of a Vegas lounge act on Sunday night. She was on-hand to sing the Star-Spangled Banner before the NBA All-Star Game, but ended up doing something that probably caused Francis Scott Key to roll over in his grave.

The performance was only redeemed by the tidal wave of hilarity it sparked on social media, as fans of all backgrounds weighed-in.
