Folks have been able to freely purchase automatic assault weapons for a very long time. But it’s only more recently (the past 10-20 years) that mass shootings have reached a level that some are calling an “epidemic.”
So what has changed?

It’s our values. 50 years ago, Americans in general adhered to a different set of values, a more conservative, family-based set of values.
We as a society have abandoned many of those values, and the violence we are seeing is a direct result of that.
It’s no coincidence that the majority of those carrying out these shootings are either neo-Nazi types or extremist liberals–the very sectors of society that most reject America’s conservative traditions.
If we really want to end this kind of violence, we need to take a more serious look at the liberal moral relativism that has infected America.
