The Republican establishment group fronted by failed presidential candidate Evan McMullin — which has spent $500,000 against populist conservative Judge Roy Moore in the Alabama Senate race — supports a constant flow of Middle East migration to the United States.
McMullin’s “Stand Up Republic” has spent half a million dollars attempting to help elect Moore’s opponent in the Alabama Senate race, pro-open borders Democrat candidate Doug Jones, as Breitbart News reported.
The GOP establishment organization, though, is vastly at odds with Alabama voters, opposing President Trump’s travel ban, which blocks foreign nationals from a handful of countries that export terrorism, thus supporting a constant flow of Middle East migration to the U.S.
In news releases, Stand Up Republic denounced Trump’s travel ban, writing:
Moreover, the White House has claimed national security reasons to justify this policy, while ignoring legitimate concerns that it will actually make us less safe. As Stand Up Republic co-founder and former CIA operative Evan McMullin said:
“Every single victory in the war on terror has been accomplished with the assistance of Muslim allies, from the intelligence that helped us locate and kill Osama bin Laden to the many local translators throughout Iraq and Afghanistan. The President’s executive order makes us weaker, not stronger, by alienating our allies who risk their lives and the lives of their families to assist us and making our ongoing efforts to recruit new partners even tougher.”
McMullin’s group accused Trump of promoting “egregious misrepresentations” and “scare tactics” against foreign refugees while failing to mention that more than 380 foreign-bornterrorists have been convicted in the U.S. since the September 11, 2001, attacks.
When the left-wing Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals initially blocked Trump’s travel ban from being implemented, McMullin’s organization praised the court, with McMullin saying:
This travel ban is motivated by the Trump administration’s political goals more than national security concerns and we are encouraged to see that the court’s ruling highlights the Executive Order’s fundamental flaws, most especially its unequal treatment of people based on religion.
Stand Up Republic’s campaign and lobbying against Trump’s travel ban is far out of line with Alabamians. For example, Alabama is part of a 12-state coalition that has filed documentation supporting Trump’s ban.
“The Trump administration’s travel ban is aimed at a select few countries which present a risk to American citizens by either posing as state sponsors of terrorism or are unwilling or unable to implement proper vetting procedures to ensure their citizens are not terrorists,” Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall said at the time. “Despite opponents’ claims of religious discrimination by the administration, the new list actually drops one Muslim country, Sudan, while adding the authoritarian nations of North Korea and Venezuela.”
Americans, in general, support Trump’s travel ban; a poll in February revealed that 55 percent of voters say they favor halting refugee and immigration to the U.S. from terror-exporting countries. That travel ban support is likely even higher in the deep-red state of Alabama.
Jones’s pro-amnesty, anti-border wall positions have come under fire with Alabama voters. A Time magazine piece admitted this week that Jones faces an “uphill battle” with voters because of his pro-immigration positions, Breitbart News reported.
Unlike Jones, Moore not only supports Trump’s travel ban, but also has committed to Alabama voters to oppose any kind of amnesty for illegal aliens and has endorsed reductions in legal immigration to give relief to American workers.
