After a San Francisco jury acquitted on Thursday an illegal alien, Jose Ines Garcia Zarate respectively, in the shooting death of Kate Steinle (he was declared not guilty of murder and/or manslaughter) in one of the most shocking decisions of late, President Trump went on to Twitter and blasted the Democrats for their irresponsible policies, i.e. unvetted immigration and sanctuary cities.

Here’s ICE’ official statement following the acquittal of Kate Steinle killer:
“San Francisco’s policy of refusing to honor ICE detainers is a blatant threat to public safety and undermines the rule of law. This tragedy could have been prevented if San Francisco had simply turned the alien over to ICE, as we requested, instead of releasing him back onto the streets. It is unconscionable that politicians across this country continue to endanger the lives of Americans with sanctuary policies while ignoring the harm inflicted on their constituents. Following the conclusion of this case, ICE will work to take custody of Mr. Garcia Zarate and ultimately remove him from the country.”
If you’re not familiar with the story, on July 1 2015, an illegal alien who was previously deported 5 times, was accused of killing a reveler who was taking a stroll with her father on Pier 14 in the Embarcadero district in San Francisco, California: 32 year old Kathryn Steinle was shot in the back, in what the perpetrator claimed it was an accidental shooting. Kate died in her father’s arms a few minutes later.
Now, if you ask me, San Francisco’s District Attorney intentionally put up a weak prosecution in hopes of avoiding a guilty verdict which would have likely resulted in significant liability in the civil case that the Steinle family has filed against the city of San Francisco.
It’s beyond ironic that the jury acquitted him of all murder charges, yet slapped him with the charge of “possession of a firearm”. Think about it, by finding him innocent of the murder charges, they are saying that they believe his story that he just picked up the gun and it fired because the trigger was so light. So if the jury believes this, why would they still charge him with illegal possession of a firearm??
Makes no sense.
I know that gun well by the way, the murder weapon that is: a SIG p229. This gun belonged to a federal employee (it was stolen from a ranger’s car a few days prior to the shooting).
The gun has no safety and is commonly referred to as double action single action gun. – Cock the hammer back and the trigger pressure drops to about 4 lbs, and does have a short travel distance to fire a shot. Leave the hammer up and the pull weight is ~10 lbs and it is a rather long pull – this is the real safety feature of the gun. It is one of the safest guns and Sigs of this design are used by Feds and police everywhere across the country – second only to Glock as far as I know.
The bullet apparently hit the ground and ricocheted up – hitting and killing Kate. He ‘apparently’ did not aim at her -nor intend to kill her. Had this been you pulling that trigger – you would have been found guilty of manslaughter at a minimum – and used as a pawn in the ‘gun control’ debate.
This case will also give murderers yet another ‘out’ in future court cases.
